A 12-hour battle involving 2000 guerillas and military police was reported whiFe the new president (Dr. Manuel Roxas) discussed the pressing situation at his first Cabinet meeting. . The rebellious faction in the interior called Hukbalahaps fought Filipino troops and police 70 miles north of Manila. Eight Filipinos were killed and two wounded.
