RUNANGA ANNUAL MEETING OF PLUNKET SUB-BRANCH
The Mayor, Mr. E. W. Kennedy, presided at the 18th annual meeting of the Runanga sub-branch of the Plunket Society. The following officers were elected:—President,- Mrs. Timlin; secretary, Mrs. _ Howard; treasurer, Mrs. Flood; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Barker and Patterson; committee, Mesdames Cairney, Pattinson, Hall, K. Griffith, Grogan, Thompson, Theyers, Farquhar, Williams, Campbell. 'The report of the nurse, as, follows, was received: —Visits made to homes, 475; babies’ visits to rooms, 515; visits of pre-school children, 24; visits of adults, 531; number of babies under supervision, 46; number ol visits of nurse to district, 50; number of new baby cases, 42; number of breast-fed babies, 34; artificially fed, 4; estimated car mileage, 967. The financial statement revealed a credit balance of £54/0/7, a slight increase on last year’s. The annual report, which 'was adopted, stated: The year had been a most satisfactory one, both financially and in membership. Nurse Pearce had been of invaluable help to the society. The branch was Unfortunate in losing Mrs. G. Dalzell, a member of the committee, and with regret and sorrow, it expressed sympathy with Mr. Dalzell and family. A new member of the committee was Mrs. Curragh. Early in the year, members of the W.E.A. Drama Circle and the Men’s Debating Club arranged a successful entertainment, which was a financial help to the society. In October, the usual house-to-house collection was held, and the results were gratifying. The branch was indebted to Mr. Hadcroft and the Mines Department for the painting of the rooms, and also to the Borough Council for the new sanitary arrangements. In March the branch received a visit from Mrs. J. O’Brien, a member of the Dominion Council, who gave an interesting report on the Dominion conference.
