SIAM’S COMPLAINT

FRENCH FORCES CROSSED * BORDER PROTEST SENT TO UNO NEW YORK, May 29. Siam has complained officially to the United Nations that French colonial. troops from Indo-China crossed the Mekong river on May 24, 25, and 26 and forcibly seized territory which they have continued to hold. The telegram of complaints said that the attacks by French troops must be considered as concerted action against Siamese sovereignty and the preservation of peace.

“Against this unjustified aggression Siam is steadfastly and patiently adhering to its policy of non-resistance,” added the telegram. “The people in the attacked and adjacent areas are abandoning their homes and ricefields at a time when the Siamese Government is striving to do its utmost to fulfil its obligation to produce and deliver the maximum quantity of rice to the famine areas. In the interests of peace and on behalf of the starving people of this area Siam appeals for your sympathy and assistance in reestablishing a peaceful basis for achieving humanitarian objects.” t (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) PARIS, May 29. A semi-official statement from the French headquarters in Saigon describes the incidents on the Siamese frontier of which the Siam Government complained, as merely police and security operations connected with the recovery of material looted by bandits, who sought refuge in Siamese territory.
