Miss P. B. Wingham, who has been visiting Blenheim, returned to Greymouth -last evening. Mr K. A .James, telephone exchange clerk, Rangiora Post Office, who has been transferred to a similar position at Hokitika, will commence duties on June 6.
The engagement is announced of Doris Joy, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Laugeson, of Ruru, to Egbert John, second son .of Mr. and Mrs. F. McGirr, of Blake Street, Blaketown. Mr. F. W. Baillie, secretary of the West Coast Boxing and Wrestling Association for 16 years until his retirement last year through ill health, was presented with an illuminated address at the annual meeting of the Association last evening. The president of the Association, Mr. A. Beban, paid a tribute to the work of Mr. Baillie, who he stated was recognised throughout the Dominion as a stalwart supporter of sport. Mr. Baillie, who was greeted with musical honours, expressed his appreciation of the gift and returned thanks.
