PATRIOTIC FUNDS

WELLINGTON VIEWS ON amalgamation • (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 29. The view that the proposal to amalgamate the National Patriotic Fund Beard and Canteen Board funds was a matter that ex-servicemen themselves would decide, was expressed in a resolution passed by a meeting today of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council. The council decided to abide by any decision of the R.S.A. and Home Servicemen’s Association. A second resolution was passed asking the Government to give all interested parties an opportunity of expressing their views on any regulations it might bring down on the subject before a Parliamentary Committee.

Another resolution passed stated that the board to control national welfare funds should consist of a maximum of 14 members, including the four metropolitan mayors, four representatives of the R.S.A., and one from the Home Servicemen’s Association. A final resolution was passed urging that in the event of amalgamation not being effected the purpose of the welfare fund be reconsidered.
