GOLF Kitto Wins North Island Title
(P.A.) NEV/ PLYMOUTH, April 23. A. R. Kitto (Wanganui) beat R. H. Glading (Hamilton) 12 up and 11 in the final of the North Island amateur golf championship at the New Plymouth Club’s course to-day. The game was played in a strong southerly wind, but Kitto mastered the conditions, and a great 36 home in the morning gave him a commanding lead of 9up at the 18th hole. In the afternoon he played the first seven holes in even fours to finish the contest. Glading’s long game was good, but he failed time and again on and around the greens. Wellington Championship to Newcomer (P.A.) WELLINGTON. April 23. The Wellington provincial golf championship was won to-daj 7 by D. G. Sutton (Heretaunga), who beat D. Oliver (Shandon Club) at the 32nd hole. The Easter tournament at Heretaunga was Sutton’s first experience of championship play.
