PARIS MEETING
MR. BEVIN’S PLANS ■ i SEEING DOMINION PREMIERS FIRST RUSSIANS’ INTENTIONS (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, April 22. Mr. Bevin is waiting until April 25 before going to Paris because he wishes to meet the Dominion Ministers before the conference of Foreign Ministers, says the Press Association’s diplomatic correspondent. Mr. Bevin is expected to return to London for short visits during the Foreign Minister’s conference to maintain touch with Dominion views. The British “supporting team” will leave for Paris to-morrow.
The correspondent adds that the Foreign Ministers’ deputies have still ’not seen a report from the commission on Venezia Giulia. It is believed that the commission members were unable to agree on the terms of the report. This is'only one of the matters causing delay, but the fact that Mr. Molotov is taking a staff of 200 experts to Paris indicates the Russians are going prepared to proceed to the final drafting of the treaties, and to merge the Foreign Ministers’ meeting into a peace conference as soon as all is prepared.
200 OFFICIALS IN SOVIET PARTY LONDON, April 21. The Russian contingent to the Foreign Ministers’ confeence in Paris consists of no fewer than 200 officials, states the diplomatic correspondent on the Daily Telegraph. It is understood that Mr Molotov will attend and that Mr Vyshinsky is likely to accompany him. Mr Bevin is going to Paris by air on the morning of the conference, on April 25. He will probably be accompanied by Mr Gladwyn Jebb and Mr Oliver Harvey, head of the Western European Department of the Foreign Office, Sir Maurice Peterson, Ambassador-designate to Moscow, and Mr William Risdale, head of the Foreign Office News Department.
