PRESIDENT TRUMAN’S WORST DEFEAT
(Rec. 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 18
The House of Representatives rejected by 370 votes to 20 an amendment to send back the Office Price lAdministration Extension Bill to the committee. The House voted by 355 to 42 to send the Bill to the Senate. Mr Sabath, the 80-year-old dean of the House, shouted before the final vote was taken: —You’ve murdered O.P.A.
The (Associated Pfresjs comments that it is one of President Truman’s worst legislative defeats. President Truman, who will watch the Atlantic Fleet manoeuvres from April 22 to 23, will leave White House on April 21 for a week’s cruise in the Presidential yacht.
