STRATEGIC AREAS

AMERICAN MISSIONS TO GO ABROAD

Mr. Byrnes mentioned • specifically the Near East, the Middle East, and the Far East regions, “the.component parts of which are in a state of intense political and economic readjustment.”

Mr. Byrnes noted that many nations preferred American assistance to that of other Powers because United States foreign policy was devoid of imperialistic design upon the sovereignty of any nation. He revealed that requests for American military and naval missions had already been received from several foreign Governments, whose names were not disclosed. Others were expected.
