TROPHY RETAINED
GREYMOUTH R.S.A. SUCCESS MEMBERSHIP PERCENTAGE Advice has been received by the Greymouth branch of the Returned Services’ Association that it has again won the Webby Trophy. The local branch, which held the trophy last year, was successful this year with a membership of 79.29 per cent, of the returned men of the district. The trophy was presented by Mrs. Webby, of Wellington, ’ for annual competition among branches of the R.S.A. throughout New Zealand. It is awarded to the district gaining the greatest percentage of members from returning personnel of the 1939-45 war. As many prospective members are still on leave the 79.29 per cent, of members gained by Greymouth is an excellent total.
Many visitors have expressed the opinion that the catering and service offered in the tearooms at Victoria Park is second to none in New Zealand. Special arrangements have been made for Easter Monday. Have your afternoon tea early to avoid crowding.—Advt.
The Greymouth Trotting Club have arranged for adequate supplies of hot pies, in addition to sandwiches and tea, for the outside buffet tearooms to cater fully for the record crowd expected at their meeting at Victoria Park on Easter Monday.— Advt.
