FELL FROM TRAIN

MAN DEAD; WOMAN INJURED

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 19. A man suffered injuries from which he died later in hospital, and a woman was injured when they alighted from a train at Paekakariki to-day.

Died from Injuries: Oscar Anderson, of Whitianga. Injured: Mrs. Lilian Parker, of Paeroa.

The accident occurred when Anderson and Mrs. Parker alighted from the relief express from Auckland, which left Paekakariki at 1.54 p.m. Anderson fell between the train and the platform, suffering compound fractures of both legs and severe lacerations. Mrs. Parker’s injuries were not so severe. Both the injured persons were taken by ambulance to the Wellington Hospital, where Anderson died later. Mrs. Parker’s condition was reported as satisfactory to-night.

Mr. Oscar Anderson was a son of the late Mr. Albert Anderson, Ruru, and his relatives in Greymouth. He was educated at the Marist Brothers School and was associated with the timber industry. He previously worked in South W.estland and at Nelson Creek.
