Brazil Seeks Immigrants.
At a meeting of the United Nations Refugees Committee from Europe to help to develop the country’s unlimited possibilities for agricultural and technical activities and to emphasise the Western character of Brazil’s civilisation. It was stated that Brazil was willing to have agricultural workers and skilled industrialists, and was less interested in city workers. Quotas were imposed on immigrants during the war, but a new and broader policy was being elaborated. Brazil wanted to know immediately how many refugees were willing to go and when they would go.—London, April 16.
