“Most Americans eat too much and it might be a good idea if food consumption were reduced to the low European standards two days a week during the world food crisis,” said President Truman, addressing a press conference. He pointed out that Americans wasted enough, food to prevent the people in the war ravaged areas from starving. President Truman said he would support the Secretary of Agriculture, Mr, C. P. Anderson, if he issued an order reducing the use of flour by 25 per cent.
