ENTERTAINMENTS

OPERA HOUSE —Finally To-night: Steel Against the Sky,” and “Buckskin Frontier.” To-morrow ' (Friday): “Bell Bottom George.”

George Formby (Britain’s ace comedian) once again creates a riot of fun. This time in the navy as “Bell Bottom George.” This latest and greatest comedy scream commences at the Opera House to-morrow. In the film George appears as a bartender, who is medically unfit for the Silent Service. When a sailor steals his only suit, and a delayed action bomb forces George out of his night shirt into his pal’s discarded uniform, then the trouble begins. George gets mixed up with naval police “crushers” and a pretty Wren, and a bunch of spies seeking information on a new type subchaser. Catchy musical numbers are always an essential part of all Formby pictures and in “Bell Bottom George” there are four specially written for George and his “uke.” “If I had a Girl Like You,” “Swim Little Fish,” “Bell Bottom George,” and “It Serves You Right You Shouldn’t Have Joined.” George not only waives the rules but will have you lying in. the aisles, and knocking you for ‘‘eight bells” in this’tidal wave of hilarity.

REGENT THEATRE-—Finally Tonight: “The Yellow Canary.” Commencing Friday: “Music For Millions,” starring Margaret O’Brien, Jose Itur-bi, June Allyson and Jimmy Durante.

“Music For Millions,” commencing at the Regent Theatre on Friday, will provide fun and thoroughgoing enjoyment dor the whole family. Starring Margaret O’Brien, Jose Iturbi, June Allyson and Jimmy Durante, “Music For Millions” is a heart-warm-ing story, filled with comedy, pathos and music. Wistful faced, pig-tailed Margaret, whose extraordinary talents have endeared her to picturegoers everywhere has the most important role of'her meteoric career, as a little girl of large faith, who motivates the entire action of the story,—the story of a little girl who comes to the city to stay with her big sister (June Allyson), and proceeds to become part and parcel not only of the lives of her sister and the latter’s fellow (or girl) musicians in the orchestra, but Iturki himself, and Jimmy Durante, the orchestra’s manager. Interspersed in a most logical and fitting manner is the music of the world’s greatest composers, including Victor Herbert, Chopin, Handel, Creig and Tschaikovsky, played by a symphony orchestra of beautiful girls, assisted by a chorus of 100 voices and conducted by Jose Iturbi. The supporting caste includes Marsha Hunt, Hugh Herbert, Harry Davenport and Larry Adler.
