CANADIAN OFFICER DETAINED
ALLEGED HELP FOR SOVIET ATTACHE
OTTAWA, March 19
The newspaper Evening Citizen says the' former Russian military attache at Ottawa (Colonel Zabotin) last summer obtained a boat and rowed up the Ottawa river toward the atomic research plant at Chalk river. He was accompanied by a Canadian officer who actually assisted Colonel Zabotin to photograph the secret plant from the boat. A prominent industrialist was an eye-witness. He saw a sinister significance in the incident and seized the photographs. The Canadian officer has been detained.
