APPLES FROM NEW ZEALAND
BRITAIN CAN NOW TAKE SUPPLY CANBERRA, March 20. Britain would now be able to accept 10,000 tons of Australian and New Zealand apples from this season’s crop, announced the Australian Minister of Commerce (Mr J. Scully) to-day. Sufficient refrigerated space will be proyided to lift 7500 tons of apples from Australia and 2500 tons from New Zealand in March, April, and May. Earlier, Britain refused an Australian offer of 2,000,000 bushels of apples because of the lack of refrigerated ships and the priority given to meat and dairy produce.
