POWER RATIONING
SHARP CUT IN WELLINGTON SUPPLY 24 PER CENT. REDUCTION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 21. The Electricity Controller has advised the Wellington City Council Electricity Department that power must be cut by 24 per cent, from today and until further notice. The department has instituted a series of cut-offs over the whole city area for half an hour at a time twice daily, staggered between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. “Wellington does not accept the classification of ‘defaulter,’ ” said the manager of the Electricity Depart, Mr L. B .Hutton. “The only defaulter which Wellington recognises is the State. Hydro-electrical Department, in that it is unable to supply power to Wellington as contracted for.”
