BRITISH MISSION LEAVES

HIGH HOPES OF SUCCESS (Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 19. Sir Stafford Cripps and Lord Pethick-Lawrence left for India by air. Lord Pethick-Lawrence, before taking off, said the object of the mission was “to bring the greatest assistance to the peoples of India in obtaining their right place in the equality of nations.” Sir Stafford Cripps said; “I have the highest hopes that we will be able to work with the Indians to bring about the measure of independenpe to which Mr. Attlee referred in the House of Commons.” , . The third member of the mission, Mr. A. V. Alexander, is flying by a different route. Before his departure he said: “We hope for good results. We may be away weeks, maybe months.”
