AIR CONFERENCE.
REPORTS BY COMMITTEES DISCUSSED AUSTRALIAN MINISTER LEAVES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 3. A plenary session of the civil aviation conference lasting lour and ahalf hours was held at Parliament Buildings on Saturday night when reports of the various committees were considered. The‘conference also dealt with a number of miscellaneous matters it wishes to have decided before the departure of the leader of the Australian delegation, the Minister of Air and Civil Aviation (Mr. A. S. Drakeford), who left Ohakea about midday to-day on his return to Australia.
Mr. Drakeford travelled from Wellington to Ohakea by car, and crossed the Tasman in the Liberator aircraft in which he came to New Zealand just over a week ago. The Australian Director-General of Civil Aviation (Mr. D. McVey) will act as leader of the Australian delegation for the remaining deliberations of the conference.
The committee will resume work to-morrow and there will be another full session of the conference on Tuesday. It is expected that the conference will finish either on that day or on Wednesday.
