“OLD LADY OF THREADNEEDLE STREET”
(Recd. 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 1. To-day was the appointed day on which the provisions of the Bank of England, 1946, Act came into effect. Bank stock to-day .was transferred to the Treasury. There was no change in the usual routine of the “Old Lady of Threadneedle Street,” now 252 years old.
