UNREST IN PALESTINE
ANGLO-U.S.A. COMMITTEE. (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) LONDON, December 10. The composition of the AngloAmerican Committee of Inquiry into Palestine was announced in the Commons by Mr. Bevin as follows:— Judge J. C. Hutchison (Houston, Texas, American chairman). Justice Singleton (British chairman). Dr. F. A. Delote, Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies, Princeton, and American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust. F. W. Buxton, editor of the “Bostoh Herald.” W. P. Crick, economic adviser to the Midland Bank. R. H. Crossman, Labour Commoner for East Coventry. O. M. Gardner, former Governor of North Carolina. Sir Frederick Leggett, until recently Secretary to the Ministry of Labour. Dr. James Macdonald, former High Commissioner for Refugees. R. F. Manningham Buller, Conservative Commoner for Daventry. Lord Morrison, until recently Labour Commoner for Tottenham, and Hon. William Phillips, former American Ambassador to Rome. Mr. Bevin said the committee was requested to furnish a report within 120 days from the beginning of the inquiries. The committee would determine its own procedure and would be empowered to deal simultaneously through sub-comm*ittees with the various terms of reference.
