ENCOURAGEMENT OF MUSIC.
The establishment of a National Theatre and the development of, a Conservatorium are advocated in the first issue of an attractive new magazine, “Maestro,” which makes its debut in New Zealand this month. Musical and dramatic enthusiasts will welcome a means o£ keeping abreast of developments both in this country and abroad. Well produced and illustrated, '“Maestro” is a tribute to the growth of this important field of culture in the Dominion, and will fill a long-felt want in providing for the cultural forces of New Zealand _to put forward their ideas and opinions. The magazine is the official organ for the New Zealand.. Brass Bands’ Association, and covers every branch of music and dramatic art with news, notes, and technical articles by well-known authorities. It should help materially to develop the latent and often lost talent of our own country,
