NATIVES WITHHOLD FOOD LONDON, December 7. A Reuter correspondent at Batavia stated: Indonesians throughout Java but particularly in the area of Bandoeng, are tightening a food and service blockade against Europeans. No vegetables, eggs, or milk have been available for sale anywhere for the last fortnight. Allied troops raided the Kramat district of Batavia city and recovered British arms and uniforms. They have held* 53 young Indonesians for interrogation. Another British artillery regiment has disembarked at Sourabaya. British military headquarters has reported that 38 Indonesians have been killed in skirmishing around Sourabaya. A British carrier, the Venerable, has arrived at Batavia. She is embarking a number of refugees, mostly stretcher cases. The Indonesian news service has announced the inauguration of an Indonesian “military school” somewhere in West Java.
