[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, December 5. AU streams are swollen as a result ol' the rain, but no road damage is reported. The Lewis Pass Road is occupied handling much passenger traffic for Canterbury. The Inangahua River was to-day at mid-day some two feet six inches above normal level, flowing strongly and still i ising. Rainfall in 24 hours to 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning was 146pts. Sergeant F. Ebbett, who has been confined to bed for some time, has been removed to the Reefton Hospital for treatment. At the Magistrate's Court, before Mr A. A. McLachlan, S.M., judgment for plaintiffs was given in the following debt cases:—L. E. Morgan v. W. B. Andrew for £2/19/4 and costs £l/14/6; by default. J. B. Sharp and M. Sharp v. Ethel A. Crossen, claim for £92 for rent of Blackspoint Hotel.—Judgment given for £5O with costs £ll/12/-. J. Davidson v. C. Buchanan, for £9, costs £l/12/6. by default. In a claim for possession of a tenement and £6O for rent arrears, E. W. Jones v. S. Carter, judgment was given for £47, to be paid at the rate of £lO per month, with costs £5/10/6. The order for possession was postponed. The following applications were heard at the Warden’s Court before Mr A. A. McLachlan as Warden: — M. L. O’Malley and Evered Eager for a coal lease on 1J acres, for leave to amend and for an extension of time for the hearing of an application. —Leave grant recommended; other applications granted. R. F. Woodbury for an extension of time for hearing of an application.—Recommended. R. F. Woodbury for an ordinary prospecting ' licence. — Granted.

The following grants were made at a sitting of the Motueka Licensing Committee held at Reefton, Mr A. A. McLachlan. S.M., being chairman:— Kathleen E. .Petty for permanent, transfer of the licence of the Owen River Hotel to F. Sinclair. J. F. McNamara for transfer of’ licence of hotel at Blackwater to Eric Palmer. J. E. Cunniffe for transfer of licence of Railway Hotel, Reefton, to David AVoods. Before Messrs J. B .Auld and C. Nevin, J.’s P., at the Reel’ton Magistrate’s Court, Richard Smith pleaded guilty to the theft of linen sheets owned by Duncan N. White. He was convicted and fined £2/10/-.
