SHOT PUT RECORD MOSCOW, October 21. Titiana Sevrykova, a Russian gill, established a new .world record for the women’s shot put with 48ft. 10m. compared with the record set by a German woman, Gislea Mauemeyer, of 47ft. 2in. CRICKET "LONDON, Oct. 22. The full committee of the M.C.C. announced that subject to the concuirence of the Imperial Cricket Conference, it would be glad to send a team to Australia ,in 1946/7, if conditions permitting satisfactory mutual arrangements on details could be made. GOLF (Rec. 11.50 a g^ NEYj October 24. The British Open Golf Champion, R. Burton, and W. Shankland will begin a "tour of Australia and New Zealand next February. Shankland, a former Australian Rugby League star, is now a professional golfer m England. Their tour will last for three months.
■ BULLER WINNERS The Buller Rugby Union football season has been declared closed and the following teams have been awarded the trophies for the various competitions:—Senior championship: Ngakawau, with White Star runners-up; Ambury Cup, White Star; Albion Cup, White Star and Rangers equal; junior championship, Rovers, while Star were runners-up. Prince Memorial Cup, Rovers, Old Boys runners-up. Third grade: Phillips Cup, Technical High School; Rovers runners-up; Foote Shield, Rovers; Technical High School runners-up.
