BLACKBALL’S EASY WIN. The Sydenham Rugby League team visiting Blackball on Sunday was soundly beaten by the home team, the final score being 39—7. There was a large attendance and the ground was in good condition. • Blackball’s speed and combination gave their opponents few chances, and they scored ten tries to Sydenham’s one. W. Kirk played his best game to date in the Blackball pack and other good forwards were P. Mountford and C. Mcßride. The McNaughton—Mountford combination was again outstanding. L. Brown, at half-back, was Sydenham’s hardest worked back and he went well, while P. Smith was the best forward. Scorers for Blackball were C. Mountford (2), P. Mountford (2), W. Mountford (2). ML Kirk, W. McNaughton, A. Stenhouse and C. McBride, C. Mountford also converting three. A. W. McKenzie, formerly a Canterbury Rugby rep. winger, scoreci Sydenham’s sole try, C. Dayison converting, and the latter also kicked a penalty. . The final of the West Coast junior knock-out competition was also decided at Blackball on Sunday, and Blackball defeated Ngahere by 39 points to 3. _____
