FINLAND’S PRESIDENT
MANNERHEIM RESIGNS. LONDON, Oct. 19. “Field-Marshal G. Mannerheim today resigned the Presidency of Finland,” says the Stockholm correspondent of the “Daily Express.” “Field-Marshal Mannerheim announced that he was unable to carry on because of illness, but political circles in Helsinki believe that he has resigned rather than identify himself with the forthcoming trials of Finland’s war criminals. The Prime Minister (Mr. J. Paasikivi) is acting as President temporarily.’’
