JUGOSLAV CASUALTIES
IMPRESSIVE FIGURES GIVEN. (Rec. 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, October 4. During the war 1,685,000 Jugoslavs died, 75 per cent, as a result of war crimes, for which the Jugoslav Government listed more than 1000 war criminals. This was revealed by Dr. Radomir Zivkovik,. Jugoslav member of *the United Nations War. Crimes Commission. The Germans interned 320,000 and employed 270,000 as slave labourers in Germany. The Italians interned more than 100,000, disabled 131,250, killed 41,394 hostages, prisoners. of war and civilians, " and subjected 278,122 to forced labour. The mortality in one Italian camp reached 37 per cent. . Dr. Zivkovik said the present machinery for dealing with war crim- • inals was too slow. He called for the Allies to hand over certain specified war criminals. He added there was no information of the whereabouts of . General Michailovitch, who, however, was not listed as a war criminal. The 'Jugoslavs were dealing with traitors. and. Quislings in another way. Dr. Zivkovik said that only 5000 to 6000 .Jugoslav Jews of 70,000 before the war are believed to be alive. t-;;
