SELF-RELIANCE OF SERVICEMEN
The solving of problems relating to the return of servicemen to civilian life is an excellent example of the wise partnership between government and free enterprise. The rehabilitation situation to-day, as disclosed by official figures, is heartening in that it shows the effective part being played by private employers and industries, and also the large number of people who find that more can be achieved by depending on their own efforts than by relying on the State. A Labour M.P., who is a member of the Rehabilitation Board, said recently in the House of Representatives that, generally speaking, the farmers, business people, manufacturers, and other private individuals had given the greatest assistance in training men, giving them employment, and assisting them on to farms or into whatever businesses they favoured. Free enterprise, if given scope to function .energetically in serving the public, will play a big part in maintaining national prosperity.—s 6.
