GERMAN DESTRUCTION FIGURES? (Rec. 10 a.m.) MOSCOW, September 13. “Izvestia,” quoting figures compiled by the State Commission, says that German occupying forces killed, tortured to death, or deported 1.000,000 Soviet citizens, and rendered homeless 25,000.000 bv ,the destruction of more than 1700 towns and more than 70,000 villages. The Germans destroved 32,000 industrial enterprises, 84,000 schools and educational institutions and 40,000 hos-' nital and medical institutions. The invaders also ruined or looted 98.000 collective farms and slaughtered or removed from Ibe country 7,000,000 horses. 17.000.000 head of cattle, and 20,000,000 pigs. The Commission estimates the total damage at 670,900 million roubles. “Izvestia” adds: The damage caused to our national economy and people must be made good by the Germans. RUSSIAN ZONE. BERLIN, Sept. 12. Marshal Zhukov announced the formation of a German Government for the entire Russian occupation , zone. There will be 11 departments, three of which are assigned to veteran communists as directors. Zhukov said the new administration would function throughout the Soviet zone under control of the corresponding departments of his staff.
