Steiner made a great recovery from a bad position to defeat Purdy. Crowl won bis fifth successive game and is now in third place. LONDON, September 12. Jackie Paterson, world flyweight champion, outpointed Jim Brady for the Empire bantamweight title, at the Football Ground, Glasgow. A storm broke just after the sixth round, and thereafter the contest was fought in heavy rain, thunder and lightning. Mang ringsiders among the 35,000 spectators fled. Others found the contest too exciting and remained until the finish. Paterson was aggressive throughout. Brady lost ground in the early rounds and though Paterson was twice down in the thirteenth, Brady could not recapture all the lost points.
