RACING AND TROTTING

FIXTURES. Sept. 15: Ashburton. Sent. 15: Wanganui. Sept. 22: Geraldine. Sept. 22: Thames. Sept. 22: Foxton. TROTTING September 15: Auckland. September 29: Methven. Scratched: Master Robin has been withdrawn from the Wanganui Guineas. Problem: A Christchurch -writer cays Little Secret shows little liking for either work or racing and will be hard for A. Stove to place successfully. Both Fit: M. Wadley has his two sprinters, Piccolo and Air Ace, in first class order. Air Ace has freshened up nicely and Piccolo has done well since r-

he ran second to Da Vinci at Riccarton last month.

Ran Wide: Brown Derby lost a leading position in the first division of the Maiden Race at Wanganui by running out when under pressure in the straight. He has plenty of ability but so far his temperament is far from ideal.

By Gold Bar: Gold Case is only a pony, but he is a good pacer, and showed a lot.of speed once he got on the way in the Canterbury Stakes. He is by Gold Bar from Nancy Bingen (4.53), by Nelson Bingen from Clara Lincoln, by Petereta from Mary Lincoln. Gold Case was bred and is owned by D. Bennett.

Smart Hack: Battle Survey should soon be in line for another win on ; Ihe way he won at Wanganui last Saturday. He trailed the pacemaker, White Cap to the straight and then ; came way to win easing up. He looks a smart performer. \

Hampered: Tiger Tan finished fast for fourth in the Flying Handicap at the Avondale meeting. He was. hampered in the running because his rider lost an iron when a leather broke at the start.

Finished Fast: Montosorrie attracted attention by a fast finishing run into fourth place in one of the division races at Wanganui last Saturday. This filly is a four-year-old by Silver Stick from Caviare, dam also of Rona Bay, and is trained by P. Burgess.

Won Easily: Cramond Bay made his record over a middle distance two on end when he won last Saturday. Three furlongs from home Cramond Bay closed on the pacemaker, Lord Darnley, and though they raced abreast until half-way down the straight Cramond Bay ultimately drew away to win easily. There should be another .race or two in store for this horse before the l tracks harden up again. Keen Play was noticed finishing on fast in , this race.

“RAJPUTANA” WINS (Rec. 11.50 a.m.)~SYDNEY, Sept. 13. Bombardier, who won the first division of the Maiden Three and Four-year-old Handicap at Albion Park, Brisbane, last Saturday, is identical with Rajputana, a .horse who figured largely in the news last year. His purchase for lOOOgns. was the subject of litigation. He was bought in New Zealand by a Sydney owner, but a legal suit for annulment of the sale was successful. Subsequently, Rajputana was sold in Sydney for 200gns. and was registered for racing in Australia as Bombardier. ...... On Saturday he won his division of the Maiden in the time of one and a-half seconds faster than the second division, and reports frqm Brisbane state that the horse shows promise of further successes.
