COAST BUTCHERS’ DECISION The West Coast Master Butchers’ Association decided last evening to close their business premises on Monday next as a protest against the failure of the Price Tribunal to make a decision on the Association's application for a retail price for meat consistent with the price paid by butchers in purchasing stock. The decision was reached after discussion of a circular from the Dominion executive. A meeting will be held on Monday for further discussion of the situation.

NO CLOSING AT AUCKLAND AUCKLAND, Sept. 6. Suggestions that butchers should close their shops on Monday and hold an all-day meeting were not favoured at a meeting of the Auckland Master Butchers’ Association which was called this evening to consider proposals submitted by the Dominion executive of the association. About 60 members attended. The proposal to close on Monday to considei' problems at present confronting the trade evoked a lively discussion. It was pointed out that the trade had an obligation to meet the needs of the public, and an agreement was finally reached that the butchers would remain open and hold the proposed meeting in the evening.
