FORTHCOMING FIXTURES. July 28- Christchurch-So'uth Canterbury (at Washdyke). August 4, 11: Canterbury. August 4: Hawke’s Bay. TROTTING. August 18 and 25: Metropolitan. Faded Out: Aqua was made favourite for the Champion Hack Cup at Awapuni, but after being prominent to the home turn faded right out of the contest. St. Hilton ran a good race in this, event and his fourth was a promise of better things. Brighton Tracks: Three training tracks at New Brighton, including the grass course, were available for training purposes to-day. Many trainers of trotters and gallopers have been exercising their teams on the beach, with good results.

Sold to Australia: Bayard, a big stake-winner in New Zealand, has been sold to a South' Australian sportsman. Among Bayard’s many achievements was his third to Haughty and Loyal Rey in the New Zealand Trotting Cup in 1942. In that race Bayard paced the two miles m 4.13 2-5.

Finished Fast: From fourth at the straight entrance Solver came on to win the Flying Hack No. 2 comfortably at Awapuni on Saturday, but Royal Duce, who got up to be second, finished impressively and will be marked down for an early win. He was well back at the half mile, but finished fast. Stony Broke was third, and the next to finish were Sailor’s Song, Gay Lena and Observatory.

Had Every Chance: Derryogue had every chance in the open seven at Awapuni, but raced much below her Trentham form and finished seventh. Olga’s Pal attracted attention in getting up to be second to Reorapa after being fifth at the home turn. Poutatau ran a good race for a fresh horse to finish fourth, and Grey Salute made up ground in the straight to be fifth at the post.

Galvin’s Appeal: The jockey. I. Galvin, has lodged an appeal to the Racing Conference against the decision of the Wanganui District Committee which confirmed his suspension by’the Manawatu Racing Club, and increased the term from three to six, months on a charge of not riding Air Port on its merits in the Manawatu Winter Cup in June. A date for hearing the appeal has not yet been fixed. —P.A.

Double Success: Valky’s Boy, who won a double at Awapuni last Saturday. is a live-year-old gelding by Gay Boy from Valky. a mare who does not appear in the Stud Book, and is raced by his breeder, Mr R. Heppner, Foxton, who has been identified with racing for many years, his most important success being the New (Zealand Cup of 1923 with Rouen, a | close relative of Gay Boy. Valky s Boy has been racing for three seasons, but had started only seven times -I before Saturday. He carried 91b oyerweight when winning the Maiden Steeplechase, and 311 b overweight in addition to a 71b rehandicap _■ in the ijHunt Cun. Valky’s Boy is trained by A M. Wright, and was ridden on Saturday by W. Murray.
