GREY BOROUGH RATES
INCREASES THIS YEAR. Tire Greymouth Borough Conn met yesterday afternoon, when it r ceived the treasurer’s report, pass special resolutions relating to the cc lection of special rates, and gave n tice to strike and levy rates for t current financial year. The consolidated rate, cover! Greymouth and Cobden, and exclu ing the hospital rate and the spec Cobden sewerage rate, has been le ied to produce £24,566 11/5 this ye; as compared with £23,966 11/- If year, an increase of £6OO 0/5. T hospital rate ovei' the whole area ti year will be £lofilB as compared wi £10,737 12/-, a decrease of £119.' T rate on the Greymouth area, exclu ing Cobden, will this year produ £22,874 1/8 compared with £22,2 8/6 last year, while the rate on t Cobden area is levied to produ £2,124 4/3, which includes £261 13 special sewerage rate levied on special area which does not inclu the Government housing block. Tl year the full interest and sinkii fund will be collected on this speci sewerage rate, whereas last year ti £ll6 14/7 levied in this connect! represented less than half the yeai interest and sinking fund. Again ti cemetery extension loan rate, cove ing the whole of the area, covers tl whole of the year as compared wi less than half of last year.
