DANISH BANKNOTES. LONDON, July 22. “Hidden war fortunes totalling between 6,000,000,000 and 7,000,000,000 kroner will, it is believed, be revealed as a result of a new law calling in all Danish banknotes and giving the taxation authorities full powers of investigation,” says the Exchange Telegraph Agency correspondent in Copenhagen. “All Danish banknotes on Monday become unlawful tender, and must be exchanged for notes of new design. All fortunes, including jewellery, furs, and furniture, must be registered in detail.” SPANISH CABINET MADRID, July 21. Members of the new Spanish Cabinet took the oath this morning. Later the Cabinet held its meeting. A Falangist paper “Arribe” said the Falangist ideal could be continued under the new Cabinet. Franco’s new Government in a declaration of policy declared its formation represented a new stage on the road to spiritual and material restoration of Spain, says Reuter’s Madrid correspondent. A declaration by Franco that Spain desired peaceful foreign relations with all peoples was adopted by the Government. RAILWAY SMASH RUGBY, July 21. About fifty passengers were injured one seriously, this afternoon, in a rail smash near Ecclefechan, north of Carlisle, when a collision occurred between the Glasgow-London express and a goods train. The driver of the express was killed and the fireman injured. GLIDING RECORD PARIS, July 22. A French pilot, M. Lepanse, has established a new gliding record, flying from Paris to Aachen—23o miles. COMING HOME ON LEAVE. ~ RUGBY, July 22. Central Mediterranean troops travelling to Britain on leave are making the 900-miles trip by road through some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. Every evening about 40 vehicles carrying between 500 and 700 men arrive at Calais, the terminus of the overland journey from a village in Austria. There are also camps at Innsbruck, Ulm, Mainz and Sedan, where-leave parties stay overnight and the camps have been given names famous in Bth Army history. ________________
