No longer need he swallow the unpleasant draughts of his grandparents’ days. We owe this change, among other medical improvements, largely to the work of the research chemist and the chemical industry. From earliest times Man has known that remedies for many of his ailments were to be found in the roots, bark, leaves and berries of trees and plants.
