TANK PRODUCTION (Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, July 18. The Moscow radio reports that the Kirov tank factory in the Urals, to which production was switched when the Germans overran a large proportion of Russian territory, produced 18,000 heavy tanks, and 48,500 Diesel motors for tanks. The factory is continuing the production of heavy tanks. FINNISH INDEMNITY. (Rec. 11 a.m.) HELSINKI, July 18. Under the agreement signed at Helsinki Finland will pay Russia 50,000,000 gold dollars between September, 1945, and September, 1946, in war damage claims. HUNGARY’S PROTEST. LONDON, July 18, The Hungarian Provisional Government protested to Russia against a continuation of the transfer of industrial equipment from Hungary to Russia, because it is impeding any possibility ’of economic reconstruction.
