CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. There was a sharp drop in entries in most classes of stock at yesterday s sale at Addington, but values nevertheless were maintained for fat sheep and the best of fat cattle. The store sheep yarding was only 5,472 and limited interest was shown in the sale, though prices did not show any material change. Best wether lambs made from 18/6 to 21/6. Medium 15/- to 16/6; and small inferior 11/6 to 13/6. The best ewe lambs made 25/6 for a pen of m/-, and a similar number made 25/-. Medium sold from 21/6 to 23/-, and small and inferior to 18/6. There was a reasonable sound demand for hill wethers, one line of two and lourtooths selling at 25/6 to 27/6. The quality of the 1,043 fat lambs entered was hardly up to recent standards, the bulk being freezing grade. The sale was sound and prices very satisfactory. Values were: Heavy lambs 32/4 to 35/4, prime 26/10 to 31/1; medium 23/- to 25/-; light, to 21/-. The bulk of the fat sheep entry was export class, and the existing schedule price was well maintained. 'Eleven Hereford steers in moderate '■condition, £lO/3/6, nine Hereford ■:heifers, £7/2/-; and six Black Poll icows, £7/15/-. ’ The quality of the dairy cattle en;try was average, but good sorts sold ■up to previous values. Best second, third, and fourth calvers, £l5 to £lB/10/-, good average sorts, £ll to £l4/10/-; others, including cows in profit, low-conditioned from £6/10/- to £lO/10/-.. There was a very little entry in the fat pig section, but competition was keen and values showed little change, being; Light porkers 47/6 to 52/6; medium 50/6 to 64/6; heavy, £3/12/6 to £3/19/6; light baconers, £4/4/6 to £4/14/6; medium, £4/17/6 to £5 2/6; heavy, £5/9/6 to £5/15/6; extra heavy, £5/19/6 to £6/8/6. Average price per lb. B;id to 9d. The store pig entry comprised mostly weaners, and values showed no change. Values were: Small weaners 10/- to 14/-; best, 15/- to 18/-; slips, 20/- to 25/-; small stores, 26/- to 30/-; medium 33/- to 38/-. xhere were no large stores forward.
