FEBRUARY LOAN FIGURES
WELLINGTON, March 22
The monthly review issued to-day by the Rehabilitation Board shows that by the end of February the total sum advanced in loans to former servicemen and women was £5,883,616. of which £5,494,499 had been advanced to men returned from overseas, and £3666 to returned servicewomen. Demobilised home servicemen and women had been advanced £302,721, merchant seamen £25,585, war widows and dependants of deceased servicemen £57,145. During Febiuary the total of loans authorised was £370,352. By the end of February 2491 servicemen had been granted loans for houses, the total sum advanced to the end oi February being £2,681,023. During February 184 loans were authorised for eligible housing applicants, the sum involved being £197,295. A total of 1206 discharged men and women had by the end of February been placed in small businesses, the total sum advanced being £519,387. In February the Board lent £47,237 to 87 applicants to establish them in businesses.
During February, 29 former servicemen were advanced £98,025 tc buy farms, bringing the totals to the end of February to 680 and £2,184,992. A total of £26,663 was advanced in February to 288 furniture applicants, and the accumulated totals to the end of February were £478,101 and 5248 applicants. Twenty- six applicants were granted £847 for for the purchase of tools of trade during February, the total sum being £12,136 for 408 applicants. Loam for miscelaneous purposes approved in February totalled £285. ' Altogether to the end of February 53 loans had been made for a total of £7977. To the end of February a total of 2775 former servicemen and women had been allocated State rentm houses and flats. February allocations totalled 95.
