GENERAL ELECTION EARLY OTTAWA, March 19. “A general election will be field shortly after the Parliamentary term expires on April, 17,” said the Gover-nor-General of. Canada (the Earl of Athlone), in the speech from the Throne, at the opening of the sixth session of the nineteenth Parliament. The speech was one of the shortest on record. The Governor-General referred to the necessary financial provisions for a period until the now ’Parliament opens, and he urged the widest possible Parliamentary support, to tiie Canadian delegation to the San Francisco conference. “Thcwar continues with relentless fury, and the Allied forces are advancing io what is believed to be a decisive victory.” said His Excellency “Canada is more nroud than ever ol' the achievements of her fighting forces.”
