Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Brown, of Westport, celebrated their golden wedding yesterday, members of the family and friends being entertained. Mr. and Mrs. Brown, who were married at Westport in 1895 and have resided in the district since, received many messages of congratulation, including telegrams from the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) and Lady Newall, the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser), and the Speaker of the Legislative Council (Mr. Fagan).
