GERMAN PRISONERS ESCAPE.

NEW YORK, December 26

Staging a mass break during a rainstorm, 25 German prisoners of war, mostly officers, escaped from Papago Park prison, in central Arizona. Six have been recaptured. The camp commandant said the combination of the Christmas spirit and elation over German successes on the Western Front had led to the break.
