. Only two West Coast farmers have made inquiries for release of men from the Armed Forces to assist in harvesting operations. Mr. J. Mulcare, Secretary of the West Coast Council of Primary Production, reported at to-day’s meeting that, though advertisements had been inserted in the Greymouth, Hokitika and Westport ,newspapers.inviting applications, this had been the only response, and there had been no actual applications.
