RUNANGA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] At the fortnightly meeting of the Runanga Co-operative - Women s Debating Society the debate on That the benefits of radio outweigh its possible evil” was offirrned by Mesdames Taylor, Airns and Keers, and denied by Mesdames _ Griffiths, Hughes and Robertson. This was followed by a prepared speech from Mrs Oakley, entitled “Post-war Plans for Runanga.’' At the monthly meeting of the Runanga W.I. Mrs Barker presided. Mrs Luff read the aspirations. Mrs Sweeney read the report. 01 the halfyearly council meeting. An invitation to Taylorville birthday was accepted. Letters of appreciation from soldiers overseas who have received W.I. parcels weie read. It was decided to have the usual Christmas party next meeting night. The roll-call was “Your Christian name and its meaning.” The social half-hour was by the ( •‘Left Overs.” The lucky threepence was won by Mrs Maskel. Competition winners were: Child’s home-made toy, Mrs Shultz 1, Mrs F. Tinning 2; plate of health biscuits, Mrs F. Tin-, ning 1, Mrs Griffiths 2.
