ASSEMBLY MEETING
PARIS, November 7
The first meeting of the enlarged consultative Assembly was held today in Luxemberg Palace, the prewar home of the Senate, with the first women representatives ever elected to the French Assembly. They consist of six women representatives of the Resistance Movement in France and of the Resistance Movement abroad. To-day’s sitting was merely formal. The election of officials will be held to-morrow. Paul Cuttoli, Senator for Constantine (Algeria), acting-President, paid a tribute to the Allied democracies, specially naming Mr. Churchill, Mr. Roosevelt and Mr. Stalin, which brought prolonged applause. He demanded for the Assembly free discussion, the right to cirticise freely and the abolition of trusts. “Let us break down the diplomatic and financial castes. Let the world again know there is a France and a French Republic.” UNITY DEVELOPING. LONDON, November 7. Admiral Muselier, who has been estranged from General De Gaulle, arrived in Paris and effected a reconciliation, says the British United Press Paris cqorrespondent. Muselier will be employed in studying proposals for French conditions for an armistice with Germany. broadcaster” SENTENCED.
LONDON, November 7. M. Huraut de Vibray. who broadcast over the Paris and Calais radio during the German occupations, was sentenced to 10 years’ hard labour at the Paris Assize Court. His radio Calais broadcasts, primarily intended for American listeners, contained insults to Britain.
