PENICILLIN PRODUCTION
LONDON, November 2. Liverpool’s £1,000,000 penicillin factory which is the. largest in the world, is already in production. Ths factory covers .twelve acres and a dozen huge incubators with hundreds of penicillin producing trays are turning out supplies. The staff totals several hundred.
BRITISH CAPTURE MAWLU KANDY, November 2. • A South-East Asia communique says: British troops in Northern Burma captured Mawlu. There was light opposition, but few casualties. Mawlu is 16 miles north of Naba junction where the Myitkyina-Mandalay railway has a branch 15 miles to Katha. Our troops operating east of Tiddim on the road to Forthite are in con-
tact with extensive enemy defences near “a vital corner.” Fighter-bomb-ers have made heavy attacks on the positions.
