MINING
The Ngahere return for the four weeks ended October 27 was 437 ounces from 127,756 yards worked in 350 hours. ALEXANDER MINES. The eighteenth ordinary annual general meeting of shareholders of Alexander Mines was held on October 18. There was a small attendance of shareholders. Mr, D. A. McVicar, Chairman of Directors, presided. The statements of accounts for the year ended May 31, 1944, were received and adopted. The two retiring directors, Messrs G. Lambert and J. B. Discaciati, were re-elected. The retiring auditor, Mr. M. J. Foearty, was also re-elected. All mining operations ceased last November owing to shortage of labour, and since then the mine has been put on a care and maintenance basis until sufficient labour becomes available to warrant restarting operations.
