WEDDING

GIDLEY—HARRIS

The wedding took place at St. Barnabas’ Church, Waiuta, the Rev. Mr. Scarfl officiating, of Reece, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Harris, and William Northley, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Gidley, of Fendalton, Christchurch. The bride who wa? escorted by her father wore a trained gown of creme satin with gold embroidered sleeves. The veil was of embroidered tulle held by a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of arum lilies, freesias and maidenhair fern and was wearing a double strand of pearls. She was attended by Mrs. D. Mortimer, sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. R. Robertson who were wearing frocks of white georgette with bishop sleeves and Peter Pan collars and carrying bouquets of carnations and. maidenhair fern. The flower girl, Miss Helen Mitchell, wore a frock of pink embossed taffeta with head piece of carnations and satin ribbon and was carrying a ball of flowers. Mr. Stan Stephens was best man and Mr. J. Naylor was groomsman. The reception was held in the Institute Hall. The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a frock of black and white georgette with black coat and hat and shoes to tone. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother who wore a brown ensemble with shoulder length veil of white silk net. Mr. and Mrs. Gidley later left for Nelson and Wellington, the bride travelling in a frock of powder blue crepe-de-chine with white embroidered collar with hat and accessories to tone and carrying a grey tailored coat.
