A London cablegram announced that the King and Queen arrived at London on Saturday from Scotland. The King had been to Edinburgh to hold an investiture at Holyrood House Palace, the first to be held there since Queen Victoria’s reign. The funeral of Mrs Anne Dalton took olace at Karoro Cemetery this morning, Rev. P. Kirkham conducting the' services.

Mr H. S. Fredericks, of the telegraph staff of the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, will retire on superannuation at the end of this month. Mr Fredericks has been attached to the Greymouth staff since July, 1929. Mr. R. J. Scott, parcels clerk, RaiL ways Department, Greymouth, will leave, to-morrow, on transfer to Patea as shift clerk. This afternoon he was farewelled by the staff, being presented with a fountain pen.

Dr. C. F. Wilson has been appointed medical superintendent of the Otaki Sanatorium. Dr. Wilson has been on the staff of the Cashmere Sanatorium, Christchurch, for five years, and since 1942 has been assistant medical superintendent.

A London cablegram announced the death of Sir Humphry Davy Rolleston, a vice-president of the British Medical Association. He attended King George V. during His Majesty’s illness in 1926. During the Great War he served in the Royal Navy with the rank of surgeon rear-admiral.

Johnstone (Wellington) The death occurred at Greymouth, early this morning, of Mr. Percival Victor Bradford, of Blaketown. Deceased, who was a native of Ashburton, aged 40 years, came to the West Coast 15 years ago. He had been in failing health for the past six years. He is survived by his wife and one son, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Bradford, of Christchurch. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at Karoro Cemetery.

The death occurred at Greymouth on Saturday evening of Mr Arthur Henry Goodall, a native of Greymouth, aged 71 years. Deceased was a member of the Star of the West Lodge of Druids for the past 40 years. He retired from the staff of the Greymouth Borough Council six years ago after 25 years’ service. Deceased is swvived by his wife, one son, George, and six daughters, Mesdames H. Campbell (Kaiata), R. Nelson, C. Hilton (Blaketown), L. Burnett (Christchurch), E. Collins (Dobson), and Miss Molly Goodall (Preston Road); also one brother, Charles (Greymouth), and three sisters, Mrs E. Jones (Cobden), Mrs S. Compton (Greymouth), Mrs M. Batchelor (Nelson). The funeral took place this afternoon at Karoro Cemetery, Rev. E. S. Hoddinott conducting the services.
